Back when it was warm and sunny we went to Schell Games' company picnic which was like visiting a fair where everything was free. There were bounce houses and face painting and games! BBQ ribs and cotton candy and lemonade, oh my!
This was our first outing that I felt up to attempting after my adrenals failed so I was a little out of it when people tried to socialize with me. Conversations went something like this...
Innocent Bystander: Hi, my name is _______! I do _______.
Me: Uhhhh....hi. I'm...Nia?
Innocent Bystander: Your kids are cute.
Me: Kids? Oh, kids. Right. Yeah.
Me: *signals frantically at Ben*
Innocent Bystander: ...
Me: Oh hey, this is my husband, Ben. *throws Ben at them*
Sorry, any/everyone I met at the picnic. I don't remember you. I was mostly asleep. The kids had fun though and it was a real treat at that point to see the light of day. The food definitely made an impression. We can't wait for next year's picnic!
